Sixty minutes on the thing you are actually stuck on. No chart required, no preparation beyond a short note.
If you run the company, there is nobody above you. Every call is yours, most of them are made tired, and the expensive ones only become obvious a year later.
Your team cannot tell you your plan is wrong. Your partner is too close to it. Your accountant only sees last quarter. This is one hour with somebody outside all of it.
People bring a business decision, a money problem, a partner or a hire they are handling badly, or the low hum underneath a year that looks fine from outside. So is arriving without knowing which it is.
I talk for less than a third of it. That is deliberate.
If one of these is familiar, this is probably the right hour.
Usually the most productive hour of the six. The knowing is not the problem.
Frequently a pricing, focus or client-mix problem wearing a motivation costume.
Or a partner, a client, or a line of business. The delay is nearly always the expensive part.
Not investment advice. What the spending is actually for, which is a different question.
More common than anyone admits, and rarely raised until about the forty-minute mark.
Perfectly valid. Come anyway. We will get somewhere.
Across three countries, in two industries, with clients including UNICEF, the IRC, GIZ, MetLife and the NHS.
Not a downturn. Gone in weeks. I know what four in the morning feels like.
From an empty office with no clients, then again from scratch somewhere else.
Two companies, now. I am not a coach who read about this. I am in it this week, same as you.
— You run something and the decisions stop with you
— You are stuck on one specific thing
— You want directness rather than encouragement
— You are willing to say the untidy version out loud
— Your work is quietly costing you at home and you know it
— You want therapy or counselling — I am not qualified and will say so
— You want regulated financial or legal advice
— You have already decided and want agreement
— You are looking for introductions to investors
— You want someone to execute rather than advise
No. Coaching asks you questions until you find your own answer. I will do that where it helps, but I will also tell you plainly when I think you are wrong.
Not in any formal sense. I am not a therapist, a counsellor or a licensed adviser. I am someone who has built, lost and rebuilt companies.
Then this is not the right thing and I will tell you so on the call. Please speak to a professional — I will point you towards one.
A short note: what is going on, and what you would like to use the hour on. Ten minutes of writing.
Yes. Most people who come back settle into one a month.
Reschedule or refund with 24 hours’ notice. Inside that, I will do my best.
There is no sense paying for my time before you know whether we think alike.
Love Everyone, Build Anyway is 138 pages on ambition without self-obsession, money as flow rather than score, and what to do when the thing you built comes apart. It will tell you in an evening.
Sixty-six pages by hand. Your patterns, your work, and the twelve months ahead — half business, half personal.
One hour with somebody outside your business who has already lost one.
One members-only essay a month, one worked example with the details left in, and three questions answered properly in writing.
And 15% off everything else here, permanently — which means one reading pays for two years of membership.
On every reading and every session, for as long as you stay.
